Dr. Trent Stites
Dr. Stites graduated from Sallisaw High School in 1986. He attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, graduating in 1994 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
He founded a mixed animal hospital in 1994 and sold it in 2000 to specialize in equine medicine and surgery. He worked with Dr. Gary White at Sallisaw Equine Clinic until 2007, when Dr. Stites founded McKey Equine Hospital. Dr. Stites became AVCA certified in equine chiropractic in 2011, to enhance his ability to diagnose and treat lameness in performance horses.
Dr. Stites lives with his family Marcy, Ty and Taite on 80 acres in Vian, OK, where he runs a stocker cattle operation.
Teddi Meek
Teddi was born in McAlester, Oklahoma. She grew up in a rodeo family. They moved to Sallisaw when she was in the 6th Grade and graduated from Sallisaw High School. Her family lived on a race horse ranch. She acquired her racing license and has been breeding, training and racing her own horses.
She has worked at McKey Equine Hospital since the end of 2007. During that time Teddi worked the front office assisting clients and then started working with Dr. Stites as a Veterinary Assistant.
In 2016 Teddi acquired her Registered Nursing degree and is currently employed at Sparks Regional Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas as an RN. She is still helping the hospital on surgery days with our anesthesia.
Cindy Newsom
Cindy was born in SW Missouri and later moved to NW Arkansas with her family. She worked for the Wal*Mart Home Office in Bentonville for several years. Some of her positions held were Buyer, Marketing Coordinator, and Divisional Replenishment Mgr. She retired from Wal*Mart in 2005 and relocated to Oklahoma.
She started riding horses when she was three and has always loved them. Cindy raised cutting horses for a few years; currently she has two horses, Casey and Strawberry.
Cindy started working with McKey Equine Hospital in April 2009. Currently she works the front office but enjoys working with the horses as much as she can.
Brenda Miller
Brenda grew up in Farley, Iowa where she graduated from St. Joseph’s High School and attended Upper Iowa College. She started training horses, acquired a race horse that got her into Quarter Horse racing as well as becoming a jockey. She moved to Sallisaw in 1994, where she continued to train both barrel and race horses. Her son, Shane continued with the race horse business.
In 2004, Brenda won the BBR World Championship 2D, the Heartland Average, 9 saddles and numerous buckles
In 2017, Brenda along with her husband Jeff started competing in the Cowboy Mounted Shooting competitions. Brenda was High Point year end, World Champion and Incentive Winner of her class.
Brenda resides in Gans, Oklahoma, where she continues to train horses and compete. She has 6 grandchildren, 2 dogs, a cat and numerous horses.
She started working for McKey Equine Hospital in 2010 and currently is a Veterinary Assistant.
Alia Rothers
Alia was born in Poteau, Oklahoma. She attended school and graduated from Foyil, Oklahoma.
In 2014 Alia attended and graduated from the Petra Vet Assistant program in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This allowed her to become a Certified Veterinarian Assistant.
Before joining McKey Equine Hospital in 2015, she worked at two different thoroughbred farms handling various duties from daily care to helping with the breeding programs.
At the present she works at McKey Equine Hospital as a Veterinary Assistant.
She currently lives in Vian, Oklahoma and has two dogs, Izzy and Boomer.
